Gray Collins, 37, started his "tweetathon" at 1200 BST on Monday and kept micro-blogging until midnight on Wednesday.
His tweets, under the name "diaryofaledger", were followed by more than 2,000 people by the end of the session.
Over £5,500 was pledged to the Isle of Wight branch of the Autism Society.
Mr Collins constantly updated his feed from his home in Woolston. He posted 2,447 times during the 60 hours and received about 11,000 mentions on the social networking site.
Mr Collins was born on the Isle of Wight. The money raised is going to the island's branch of the National Autistic Society as both of his sister's children are affected by the condition.
He added: "I get to see first hand how much hard work that can be for the families involved during my visits back to the island."
"The Isle of Wight branch does great work in supporting these families but needs help to be able to make a difference to those affected by autism on the island."
Last year Mr Collins successfully completed a 48-hour tweetathon which he described as an "incredible experience".
